Frustrations with Bell
So, as of late it has been difficult for me to get on here to post due to my ever lacking internet service! For the past few weeks it has been randomly disconnecting for no apparent reason. I've talked to reps before and have been constantly told that everything is perfect on their end and it's my computer's fault. OK, well explain to me how exactly MY computer is making the modem disconnect!!! Oh, right, because it's NOT!
The other night it went out 3 times in the span of half an hour so I went on NetAssist to discuss this with a rep and explained my frustrations. I was completely ticked off by this point. She was quite rude in my opinion and all she did was copy and paste some crap she found in her "library" or whatever she may use. I got to one point where she made me reset my IP address which disconnected me and then I was unable to reconnect. Now, I'm not computer whiz so I didn't really know what to do. I fiddled around with some stuff, tried reversing the process to no avail...so by 11pm I was really pissed off, I gave up and resolved that my computer was broken and that the next day I would call and complain. I missed an entire night of WoW play in which I could have reached 65 so I'm sure you can understand another one of my frustrations! lol. I spent an hour with this girl and she resolved NOTHING! So I just have to hope my service is fine from henceforth.
OK, so next morning I decide to start up my computer, which is probably a dumb idea because getting frustrated just before leaving for work is a BAD idea. I did something, rebooted and magically my computer connected to the internet and voila, all has been well since! Somehow my IP address went back to the original address even though she had me change it. I shant complain, at least I can once again play WoW. Though there are still the occasional hiccups and lag issues. And aside from that, my 5Mbps speed is only running at about 2Mbps so it's frustrating to pay the extra $$ but whatever.
Thus ends my rant. If I would have been able to do it the other night it would have been in more detail and perhaps a bit more hasty!
Back to work I go...

What did the Bell person get you to do? Were you in a DOS-like command prompt? Was it:
ipconfig /release
Which then would release the Window IP address. Then to get a new one again what she should have told you to type would be:
ipconfig /renew
But restarting the computer would automatically renew it, so that's prolly why it worked again =)

I don't remember exactly, I can bring up the exact prompt when I'm at home, but it wasn't /release! it was something long, and I did restart my computer to see if that would fix it and it didn't, when I did ipconfig after restarting, it came up that I had no existing IP address. Craziness. I changed some settings in my Internet connections and restarted and that seemed to fix it.
Who knows...crazy girl should have told me EVERYTHING before telling me to do that...how did she expect me to get back online!? GAH
